ABOUT THE AUTHOR

 

IBRAHIM HONJO was born on April 16, 1948 in the former Yugoslavia (Bosnia and Herzegovina). He lived in Jablanica, Mostar, Bileca, Lovran, Livno, Banja Luka, Bosanski Brod and Ljubljana.

Honjo arrived in Canada and Vancouver in 1995. He lived in Sent Johns', Burnaby, Coquitlam, Vancouver and Port Moody.

Honjo have been writing poetry for 45 years. He published 10 books and represented in 3 anthologies, as well as in many magazines, newspapers, and radio stations in former Yugoslavia, and Canada.

Last 3 collections "Do Not Write This Down," "Roots In The Stone" and "Enigma from the stone"Honjo published in English and Serbo-Croatian language. First two books illustrated with the authors arts: first book with sculptures, and second book with oil and acrylic painting and photographs.

Honjo won several prizes in former Yugoslavia where he worked as an economist and journalist, book and newspapers editor, marketing director etc. He organized many poetry events and festivals. Honjo's poem "The Stone" won The Editor's Choice Award (poetry.com).

Honjo's poetry has been translated in Korean, Slovenian and German.

He is member of World Poetry Reading Series, Poetry around World, Shoreline Writers and several group on internet. Also, he is the founder and host of Poetry Planet in Port Moody.
